ROHM 1700V SiC- MOSFET built-in AC / DC converter (BM2SC124FP2-LBZE2) analysis plan

● Overview

The BM2SC12xFP2-LBZ series is a sample from ROHM from May 2021. It is an
AC / DC converter SIP (System In Package) with a built-in 1700V withstand voltage SiC- MOSFET that was shipped .
This is the industry’s first IC that combines a SiC MOSFET and a control circuit optimized for auxiliary power supplies of industrial equipment into a
small surface mount package (TO263).
Since it is a surface-mounted package that can handle up to 48W output without a heat sink, it contributes to reducing the number of parts and mounting costs at the factory, and the
control circuit has low noise and high efficiency compared to the general PWM method. Since it uses a pseudo-resonance method that can operate,
it is possible to minimize the effects of noise. 

●  Product  features
————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————– Pseudo-resonance method (low EMI)  Normally, switching transistors are used with 600-800V MOSFETs.  ROHM uses  1700V transistors, probably because 1700V MOSFETs can eliminate the snubber circuit (or active clamp) on the primary side of the transformer  .  As a result, it has the effect of low heat generation, the mounting area is small, and the BOM cost is low.

  specific analysis points of circuit configuration of pre-driver and pre-driver power supply path  ・ Structural analysis Logic part cross-sectional analysis, high withstand voltage transistor part cross-sectional analysis

Report price (approximate): 1.1 million yen (excluding tax)
